Recently we have had a string of repair bills.? Growing up I always heard that things like trouble "come in three's".? Of course I don't believe this.? However, I do believe that satan likes to kick us while we're down and he likes to put fear in us.? So, when my sweet hubby's truck needed some major and expensive repairs I should have known he wasn't finished with us yet.? After the truck repairs, our air conditioning went out.? Shortly after that,?my vehicle needed costly repairs.? Then this week he abused our 10 year old refrigerator to kick us even more.
All of these situations happened within a span of a few months, just after we paid for an upcoming?(and much needed) family vacation?and just after we switched to a more expensive, but worthwhile curriculum.? Do I think this is just coincidence or bad luck?? Absolutely NOT!?
I just want to praise the Lord, because I have felt His presence with us through all of the attacks of the enemy.? My children are seeing yet again how their parents depend on God and how He sees our family through the good and bad times.? I have overflowing blessings to be thankful for even in the midst of satan's raging.? When I think of these attacks, I realize things could be so much worse.? These repairs and expenses are small potatoes compared to what many people go through.? Of course I was?disappointed, I complained about?at first, and for a split second I wondered why?? However, it's times?like these that I wonder what major hardship God is saving us from by allowing these minor things to come into our lives.??I can be grateful in the midst of these problems, because I've seen evidence of?God's grace and mercy so many times in my life.?
Today I am continuing my list of One Thousand Gifts with you today, inspired by Ann Voskamp's?encouraging book, One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are. The good?and bad circumstances in life do not happen by chance, but are intricately woven through life by our Lord for our?good and His glory:
21.? Strong, but gentle hands of my sweet hubby;?They have repaired the broken, built the strong, lifted the heavy, worked tirelessly to provide, loved and disciplined the babes, changed some diapers, prepared meals in my absence, cleaned when I was sick, fit perfectly intertwined with?mine through the good and bad times for 20 glorious years!
?
?
22. Vehicles that safely?carry my precious cargo.
?
?
23.? A?old-fashioned, broken refrigerator?that served our home and family and endured our use and abuse for 10 years.
?
24. A shiny, new refrigerator with larger capacity, energy efficiency, water on the door (because I know my children will drink water just so they can play with it), and discounted price.
?
25.? A loving Heavenly Father, our light in the darkness, who graciously and mercifully walks with us when we give our lives to Him.? He takes the lives we've surrendered and?molds & shapes them into something beautiful!
